Nguyen Thi Hoang Minh or Minh is a young Vietnamese artist living and working in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam. She graduated the University of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City in 2011 as a Bachelor of Fine Arts and in 2016 as a Master of Fine Arts, with a specialisation in painting. Since 2017 she is a lecturer in Fine Arts at this University.
The artworks of Minh are very refined and colourful and painted on silk. It’s inspired and created following the Eastern art, focusing on shape and colour. The basic idea in her paintings is the interactive relationship between human and nature. The characters in her paintings can be women or children in a natural environment with birds, nests with eggs or leaves. ‘ Subject is their inner strength, innocence and fragility. She is very interested in the material silk. She loves the clarity and limpidity of the material and that it is naturally made from the cocoon of silkworm. She evolved a unique and unconventional style with watercolor on silk to express her ideas about life.
She says: “To me, an artwork should bring enjoyers rich, natural and long-lasting vibrations. These vibrations give them new feelings about themselves and life. It even completely changes their vision of the world around them. I hope we will be more kind to our nature house that we live in, in order to receive more good things”.
The artwork with the title “Autumn” was selected and exhibited in Japan at the Fine Art University in 2016-2017. In 2016 she won the 3rd prize in Viet Art Today 2016 (young professional painters)
